a.       Needs Assessment

                                                               i.      As Lorenzo ISD begins its transition to a 1:1 initiative, educators have a need to be trained in support and integration of these laptops into their classrooms.

b.      Financial Needs

                                                               i.      Will be taken care of by the superintendent and business manager.

c.       Standards

                                                               i.      Course will be developed based on Texas State Board for Educator Certification Technology Application Standards (http://www.tea.state.tx.us/technology/ta/edstd.html#edstd1)

1.       Standard I. All teachers use technology-related terms, concepts, data input strategies and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications.

 

2.       Standard II. All teachers identify task requirements, apply search strategies and use current technology to efficiently acquire, analyze, and evaluate a variety of electronic information.

 

3.       Standard III. All teachers use task-appropriate tools to synthesize knowledge, create and modify solutions and evaluate results in a way that supports the work of individuals and groups in problem-solving situations.

 

4.       Standard IV. All teachers communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.

 

5.       Standard V. All teachers know how to plan, organize, deliver and evaluate instruction for all students that incorporates the effective use of current technology for teaching and integrating the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) into the curriculum.

a.       Digital Media Production

                                                               i.      For the first year, all media will be produced by the Principal

1.       In subsequent years, as more students take classes on digital design, those students will be utilized.

b.      LMS Maintenance

                                                               i.      The Moodle server will be maintained by the Director of Technology

c.       Training, Pedagogical Consultation

                                                               i.      SBEC Training Standards will be used

VIII.            Student Subsystem

a.       Student Support

                                                               i.      Lorenzo ISD will utilize online help, technology representative chat, email, and remote control as support features for students

b.      Content

                                                               i.      As much information as possible will be presented to students allow unless the material is copyrighted.

c.       Correspondence

                                                               i.      Lorenzo is a small enough school district that all communication between staff and students will be personal and individual to each student’s needs.

2. I think the best thing an administrator can do is to continue to research and watch for patterns and trends in DE to help predict future needs.
